LAMP: Yasmany Tomas Clubs Two Homers, Takes League Lead in Caneros de Los Mochis Win

Tomateros de Culiacan 7, Aguilas de Mexicali 6 (10 Innings) – Andres Alvarez went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two clutch RBIs. Alvarez hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to send the Culiacan fans home happy, as the Tomateros won their second straight game under new manager Roberto Vizcarra. Esteban Quiroz went 2-for-2 with three walks and two RBIs for Culiacan.

Charros de Jalisco 2, Sultanes de Monterrey 1 (10 Innings) – After nine scoreless innings, a two-run homer by Tirso Ornelas gave the Charros a 2-1 lead in the top of the 10th, and they held on to win despite a Sultanes rally in the bottom of the frame. Juan Mora drove in Ricardo Valenzuela for the Sultanes lone run, and Cuban starter Roenis Elias made his first appearance for Monterrey, throwing 6 1/3 shutout innings, allowing a hit, two walks, and striking out six.

Caneros de Los Mochis 7, Venados de Mazatlan 3 – A pair of homers gave Yasmany Tomas the league lead with 11 and sent three of Los Mochis’ runs across, as the Caneros improved to 10-8 in the second half. Kyle Martin drove in two more for Felix Fermin’s club with a two-run shot of his own, and seven Caneros pitchers combined to allow three runs on six hits and three walks.

Mayos de Navojoa 1, Yaquis de Obregon 0 – Agustin Ruiz watched four straight pitches with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th before walking to first, pushing Matt McDermott across the plate to end the game for the Mayos. Former New York Yankee Luis Cessa threw five shutout innings for Obregon, allowing two hits and striking out two for Obregon.

Algodoneros de Guasave 5, Naranjeros de Hermosillo 4 – Yadir Drake hit a three-run homer in the first inning and sent the winning run home with a ground out in the fifth as the Algodoneros topped first-place Hermosillo, who they trail by three games in the second half. Hermosillo’s Jasson Atondo went 3-for-5 and leads the league with a .347 average.

Aguilas de Mexicali – Named Roberto Pérez to the coaching staff. Retroactive to December 8, deactivated IF Moisés Gutiérrez, who can be activated December 13, and added RHP Sergio García-Repper to the active roster.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo – Deactivated IFAlfonso Rivas, who may be activated December 17, and added LHP Luke Westphal to the active roster.

Algodoneros de Guasave – Deactivated RHP Victor Buelna, who  may be activated December 13, and added RHP Alejandro Cervantes to the active roster. Deactivated LHP Vidal Sotelo, who may be activated December 13, and added C Jose Lizarraga to the active roster.

Caneros de Los Mochis – Deactivated RHP Omar Araujo, who may be activated December 13, and added RHP Miguel Vázquez to the active roster. Deactivated IF José Verdugo, who may be activated December 13, and added OF Roberto Castro to the active roster.

Tomateros de Culiacan – Retroactive to December 9, deactivated IF Rosman Verdugo, who can be activated  December 13, and added IF Juan Alva to the active roster.

Venados de Mazatlan – Retroactive to December 1, deactivated RHP Ernesto Borges, who can be activated  December 13, and added LHP Jesús Pablo León to the active roster.
