Emilio Bonifacio led off game three of the LIDOM championship series with a double and scored two batters later and scored on Jack Mayfield’s single.
It was the only run the Tigres del Licey would need, though they’d tack on four more, on their way to a 5-0 win over the Estrellas Orientales. The Estrellas lead the series two games to one.
Dawel Lugo singled in the first to score Mayfield, and a sac fly by Francisco Mejia scored Ramon Hernandez to give the Tigres a 3-0 lead before the Estrellas had sent a man to the plate.
Mayfield added an RBI single in the top of the second, and Gustavo Nunez singled in the top of the ninth to send Robel Garcia home.
Estrellas starter Andy Otero lasted just 1.2 innings, allowing four runs, three of them earned, on five hits, striking out one.
Four Tigres hurlers combined to scatter six hits and seven walks across nine innings of work.
Game four of the LIDOM championship series is Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. and can be streamed on MLB.tv with a paid subscription.
