Diablos Rojos del Mexico (20-13) 14, El Aguila de Veracruz (15-18) – A 14-4 blowout at the hands of the Diablos was enough to convince Pedro Mere that it was time to go of his own accord. The Veracruz skipper became the fifth manager to leave or be fired just 1/3 of the way through the season. Robinson Cano and Juan Carlos Gamboa each had four RBIs, with all of Gamboa’s coming from a fifth inning grand slam for the Diablos, who won their 20th game of the season.
