On Saturday, the LSU Tigers suffered their first loss of the season by way of an upset against the Omaha Mavericks. Since then, head coach Jay Johnson’s team has put together two impressive-looking wins.
The Tigers got revenge against the Mavericks on Sunday, defeating them 12-1. Early offense, including a three-run fourth inning, gave LSU a 5-0 lead.
The team would not look back as they scored seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings to defeat Omaha 12-1.
Jared Jones had a huge game with 5 RBI that came off two base hits and a double. Designated hitter Josh Pearson added two RBI himself in the game.

LSU’s team had 13 hits in the series-clinching win over Omaha.
The Tigers played in Alex Box Stadium again on Monday against Nicholls State. This game was moved to this day due to bad weather, which postponed another matchup between the two squads.
However, this wacky schedule change did not affect the LSU lineup for a second.
In a 13-3, run rule win, the Tigers had 10 hits as a team. Just like the Sunday game against Omaha, LSU got out to a fast and hot start.
A five-run first and second inning came via RBI knocks from Utah Valley transfer Daniel Dickinson and Steven Milam. The run in the second inning came from Jones as he hit a solo home run.
Milam hit a home run of his own in the fifth inning. This three-run homer was a dagger to help seal the mid-week matchup, increasing LSU’s lead out to 8-2.

Freshmen players Cam Arrambide and Derek Curiel also had RBI in the win over Nicholls State.
Johnson had this to say about his team’s offensive surge after Monday night’s win.
“I think our best two games have been our last two games, and that is the way you want to trend…we are a far superior team than we were 56 hours ago [referencing LSU’s loss to Omaha].”
The Tigers now have a 7-1 record and will look to continue their hot play on Wednesday. They will face the Dallas Baptist Patriots, a great mid-major opponent, on neutral turf at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
The first pitch for that game is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
