ARLINGTON, TX – The Ole Miss Rebels pulled off a huge win to open the 2025 college baseball season. In Arlington, Texas, they defeated the 21st-ranked team in the country, the Arizona Wildcats by a score of 2-1.

Although the scoring was not plentiful, one player that did have a great offensive day for Ole Miss was third baseman Luke Hill. He went 2-3 at the plate and had a sacrifice fly that put the first run of the game on the board.
I asked the Rebels’ head coach Mike Bianco about Hill’s day on offense and he gave a gratifying answer about his infielder.

“I thought Luke swung really, really well tonight. You know he’s arguably our best hitter and I don’t think he gets the publicity for that. What he’s done in front of us [Ole Miss coaching staff] in the fall and in the spring is outstanding. He’s a force that you have got to reckon with. He can run and he can do some different things.”
Last season, Hill batted .270 in 174 at-bats and also had 26 RBI along with that. He is a former top five high school prospect from Louisiana.
The next game for Ole Miss is back in Globe Life Field as they will take on the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, Feb. 15.
