LVBP Suspends 13 In Wake Of Championship Series Brawl Between Tiburones, Cardenales

The Liga Venezolana Beisbol Profesional has suspended 13 people for their actions in a brawl during game two the league’s championship series on January 24.

Former Major League Baseball catcher Henry Blanco, who manages the Cardenales de Lara, was suspended two games and fined $200 for making physical contact with an umpire and using offensive language.

Cardinals pitchers Néstor Molina, Luis Rico, José Ascanio and Yapson Gómez, as well as coach Oswaldo Peraza are suspended for four games and fined $400 for violating rules regarding physical contact with any manager, player, coach, fan or field staff.

Tiburones de La Guaira outfielders Yasiel Puig , Danry Vásquez and Franklin Barreto, catcherss Francisco Arcia and José Briceño, and pitcher Ricardo Pinto were each suspended four games and fined $400 for violating rules regarding physical contact with any manager, player, coach, fan or field staff.

La Guaira infielder Maikel García was suspended for four games and fined four hundred dollars for violating rules regarding serious inappropriate conduct as well as the rules regarding conduct detrimental to the league.

The suspensions will be served at the beginning of the 2024-25 season, which will start
