The Austin Peay Governors got a 16-10 win over the Purdue Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Ind., on Tuesday night. The team had 18 hits and Ray Velazquez led the way with four hits and six RBIs. The Vanderbilt transfer also hit a home run during the game.
The win against Purdue is the 31st of the year for Austin Peay and they are now 31-10 overall in 2025. They also have a commanding lead in the Atlantic Sun conference standings. They have a 15-3 record in conference play.
They played their most recent conference series this past weekend in Richmond, Ky., where they took on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, sweeping them to maintain their current four-game win streak.
A game to watch for Austin Peay is a matchup with Ole Miss on April 29 at Swayze Field in Oxford, Miss. Outside of matchups with Purdue and Arizona State, this is arguably their biggest opponent of the year in a formidable SEC opponent.
For now, the Governors have a strong hold on possibly winning the Atlantic Sun conference title. The team in second place, Lipscomb, is 11-7 in conference play, leaving them a good handful of games behind.
Austin Peay does play Lipscomb to end the season from May 15-17 in Nashville.
Up Next – Austin Peay will be back at home at Raymond C. Hand Park in Clarkesville, Tenn. to take on North Alabama. This will be a three-game series from April 25-27.
The first pitch for the game on Friday, April 25, is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT.
