Mid-Major Watch: UTSA Roadrunners 2025 Season Highlighted By Wins Against Texas and Texas A&M

 Alfred Ezman - World Baseball Network  |    Mar 20th, 2025 1:30pm EDT

The University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners got another big midweek win during last week.

On Tuesday, they travelled to Disch-Falk Field and beat the Texas Longhorns, 8-7, in 12 innings. The Roadrunners also took out the Texas A&M Aggies 7-4 on March 4, giving them have wins over the two big SEC schools in the state of Texas

UTSA also has another win against a ranked opponent, the No. 20 Dallas Baptist Patriots, in their recent weekend series, with a 15-11 win on March 15.

The Roadrunners have been a talented baseball team all season. They have a 17-6 overall record and are an astonishing 13-1 at home.

They have yet to play a conference game, but this non-conference resume that head coach Pat Hallmark’s squad put together is impressive and could pay dividends during the NCAA selection process if UTSA finds themselves looking to get into the NCAA Tournament, which they haven’t made since 2013.

Wins over teams like Texas, Texas A&M, and Dallas Baptist make the Roadrunners a threat to not only thrive, but also win the American Athletic Conference.  This is conference they have only been in since 2023, as they were in Conference USA and the Southland Conference prior.

The road to an NCAA berth after a great set of wins in non-conference play begins this weekend. The UTSA Roadrunners will travel to Hayes Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. to take on the Charlotte 49ers. It will be a three-game weekend series and their first AAC series of the season. The first pitch for the game on Friday, Mar. 21, is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST.
