COLUMBIA, S.C. – On Wednesday, the South Carolina Gamecocks hosted the Georgia State Panthers at Founders Park for their final non-conference game before SEC play began. The Gamecocks got win number 15 of the season defeating Georgia State 7-1.

Nathan Hall Continues Great Season with a Three-Hit Night

Nathan Hall continues to be the major catalyst for South Carolina’s offense, with a three-hit game against Georgia State.

Along with those three hits, he had two RBI and scored a run himself.

Hall also extended his hitting streak to eight games, which started on March 1 against his former team, the Clemson Tigers.

He was South Carolina’s best hitter against the Panthers and has been the Gamecocks’ best hitter all season.

Jarvis Evans Jr. Bounces Back for Good Start After Rocky 2nd Inning

Jarvis Evans Jr. got his third start of the season against Georgia State. He went five innings, struck out seven batters, and allowed just one walk and one earned run.

In the 2nd inning, the Georgia transfer gave up a solo home run to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. He then got into trouble as he gave Georgia State runners on the corners via a base hit and two wild pitches.

From there, everything was seamless for Evans Jr. as he retired seven straight hitters (four via strikeouts). It was a nice bounce-back-type of start for the southpaw who finished with a season-high in strikeouts.

Up Next

The Gamecocks conclude non-conference play with a 15-3 record. They will begin SEC play at home in Founders Park for a three-game series against the Oklahoma Sooners. The first pitch for the game on Friday, Mar. 14, is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
