National Seed? Coastal Carolina Makes a Huge Statement with a Season Sweep of the Clemson Tigers

On Tuesday, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers defeated the Clemson Tigers 5-3 at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C., getting their second win of the season over Clemson and a season sweep.

The Chanticleers also beat the Tigers on the road 8-2 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on March 25.

After Tuesday night’s win, Coastal Carolina is now 38-11 overall. This, combined with an elite conference record of 20-4, make them contenders not only to host a regional in the NCAA Tournament but also be a national seed. Two wins over Clemson certainly boost their resume.

D1 Baseball’s recent NCAA Tournament projections have Coastal Carolina hosting a regional in Conway, S.C., as the 11th overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The teams featured in that regional among the Chanticleers include the Florida Gators, N.C. State Wolfpack, and High Point Panthers.

The Chanticleers sit in first place in the Sun Belt Conference. They have the most wins of any team in the conference and currently hold a two-game lead over the second-place Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

This puts them in the driver’s seat to win the 2025 Sun Belt regular season title. If they manage to do so, it would be their second regular season conference championship in three years.

Up Next – This weekend, Coastal Carolina will stay home to play the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in a three-game series at Springs Brooks Stadium.

The first game of this weekend series is on Thursday, May 8. This first pitch for this matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT.
