The New York Mets called up utility infielder Brett Baty from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of their three-game road series against the Arizona Diamondbacks starting May 5.

According to freelance reporter Ben Yoel, Baty has one option remaining and can be returned to Syracuse once Jesse Winker comes off the injured list.

Mike Mayer of Metsmerized Online reported that top pitching prospect Nolan McLean was promoted from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Mets also optioned right-handers Austin Warren and Blade Tidwell to Triple-A Syracuse on May 5.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza listed the following injury updates before starting their series in the desert.

Baty, 25, made his Major League debut with the Mets on August 17, 2022, on the road against the Atlanta Braves. The left-handed hitter from Round Rock, Texas, opened the 2025 season with the Mets, playing in 19 games before being optioned to Syracuse on April 24.

This season, Baty is slashing .204/.246/.352 across 58 plate appearances with 11 hits, including three doubles, one triple, and one home run. He’s added four RBI, one stolen base, three walks, and 19 strikeouts.

At third base, he’s appeared in seven games (four starts), with 43 innings, 10 chances, two putouts, eight assists, no errors, and two double plays turned.

In a brief three-game stint at Triple-A Syracuse, Baty hit .300/.364/.500 in 11 plate appearances with three hits, two doubles, three RBI, one walk, and three strikeouts.

During 2025 spring training, Baty impressed, batting .353/.441/.745 over 20 games with 18 hits in 51 at-bats, including six doubles, one triple, four home runs, 11 RBI, one stolen base, eight walks, and six strikeouts.

Last season, Baty split time between the Mets and Syracuse. With Syracuse, he hit .353 over 62 games with 58 hits, 10 doubles, 16 home runs, 45 RBI, one stolen base, 33 walks, 57 strikeouts, and an .854 OPS. With the Mets, he appeared in 50 games and slashed .229/.306/.327 in 171 plate appearances, collecting 35 hits, three doubles, four home runs, 16 RBI, 16 walks, and 42 strikeouts.

The first-place Mets (22-13) in the National League East will face the fourth-place Diamondbacks (18-16) of the NL West at Chase Field in Phoenix. First pitch of the series opener is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 5.
