Rasmussen against the team that made him
Milwaukee drafted Drew Rasmussen in the sixth round in 2018, gave him his first big league innings, and traded him to Tampa Bay in 2021. Since the All-Star break he’s 11-0 with a 1.73 ERA, 99 strikeouts and 18 walks in 93 2/3 innings. The Rays are 14-1 in those 15 starts.
“Had the Brewers been playing anyone else in the World Series, man, I’d be rooting for them,” Rasmussen said. “It’s a really unique, really cool matchup.”
Logan Henderson goes for Milwaukee. The rookie went 11-3 with a 2.47 ERA this season, and the Brewers are 21-4 in his 25 career starts.
What happened Friday
Christian Yelich tripled home the first run. Jackson Chourio singled in another in the seventh. Jacob Misiorowski threw the hardest pitch in World Series history on his first pitch of the game.
The play that decided it: Abner Uribe struck out Chandler Simpson and William Contreras threw out Jonathan Aranda at second to end the sixth. Contreras caught two runners on the night. Tampa Bay had been 11-for-11 on steal attempts this postseason.
Chourio and Contreras became the first Brewers with multiple hits in a World Series game since Paul Molitor in Game 7 of 1982.
