On Tuesday, August 11, Drew LaComb was named the next head coach for the Air Force Falcons.
LaComb is replacing the former head coach, Mike Kazlausky, who was the skipper for the Falcons since 2011. Kazlausky is now the Director of Leadership and Institutional Strategy for the Air Force Academy athletic department.
LaComb goes from assistant to head coach
LaComb spent the last three seasons as an assistant for Air Force baseball. He worked on the staff as an offensive coordinator and a hitting coach.
In his three seasons as an assistant, Air Force won 73 total games. The Falcons finished with a winning Mountain West Conference record in 2024 and 2026, with LaComb serving as an assistant.
In 2024, Air Force won its first Mountain West regular season title, finishing with a 18-12 record in conference play.
Before joining Air Force in 2024, LaComb was the head coach at Regis University, a Division Two school in Denver. He won 87 games as the head coach of the Rangers.
In a press release from Air Force Athletics, LaComb expressed his gratitude for being named the next head coach of the Falcons.
"I want to thank Dr. Hixson, Ms. Block, Mr. Nelson, and Coach Kaz for the incredible opportunity to support and lead this program," said LaComb. "It is a true honor to serve these men and all cadets at our Academy. Thank you and Fly, Fight, Win!"
Air Force season results in 2026
In 2026, the Air Force Falcons finished with a 27-28 overall record and a 15-9 record in Mountain West play. They finished in third place in the Mountain West standings behind Washington State and San Diego State.
Air Force is still in search of its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2022 as LaComb enters his journey as the team's head coach.
