Earlier this year, Venezuela won the World Baseball Classic by taking down the United States 3-2 in the championship.
Venezuela's roster featured four players who have a chance to win a ring with the Milwaukee Brewers this season: William Contreras, Jackson Chourio, Antonio Senzatela and Angel Zerpa.
Zerpa underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery and will not be on the Brewers' World Series roster. However, he is a member of the team and is part of their championship journey, even if it's not in a big way. Contreras, Chourio and Senzatela are expected to be on the World Series roster, and all of them have made big contributions in the postseason already.
Only two players have ever won the World Baseball Classic and World Series in the same year: Alex Bregman and Luke Gregerson.
Bregman and Gregerson both won the World Series with the Houston Astros after winning the 2017 World Baseball Classic as members of Team USA.
Chourio, Contreras, Senzatela and Zerpa have a chance to be the first Latino players to win both events in the same year. No player on the Rays won the World Baseball Classic with Venezuela this year.
Senzatela came over to the Brewers at the trade deadline, but Chourio and Contreras have been pivotal to the team's success all year. They have a combined five home runs in the postseason and have been two of the best hitters on the team all year.
Chourio posted his third straight 20-homer, 20-steal season this year. Contreras was an All-Star this year and has been pivotal to Jacob Misiorowski's Cy Young Award campaign and the Brewers' overall pitching dominance.
