Joe Nottingham is heading into his sophomore season with the Georgia Bulldogs. In 2026, he was part of a historically great Georgia baseball team during his freshman season.
The 2027 season should provide the right-handed pitcher with a big opportunity to play a pivotal role in Athens.
Nottingham in 2026 with Georgia
In 2026, the Georgia Bulldogs finished with a 53-14 overall record and a 23-7 record in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play. They won the SEC regular season and tournament titles and made the College World Series for the first time since 2008.
During that historic 2026 season, Nottingham made 13 appearances on the mound and pitched 13 ⅓ innings. During that stretch, he had 19 strikeouts and allowed seven earned runs. The right-handed pitcher from Windsor Hill, Maryland, also allowed an opposing batting average of .200.
Nottingham’s most impressive outing with Georgia this past season came against the Troy Trojans on April 28. In 2 ⅓ innings of work, Nottingham had three strikeouts and recorded his first career save. The game resulted in an 11-1 win for the Bulldogs.
Nottingham in the 2026 Cape Cod League
After being part of a historic 2026 Georgia team, Nottingham spent his summer playing in the 2026 Cape Cod League. He played in nine games for the Orleans Firebirds.
With Orleans, Nottingham had 17 strikeouts in 13 ⅓ innings of work this summer. According to D1 Baseball’s scouting in the Cape Cod League, Nottingham was reaching 99 miles per hour with his fastball. His changeup and slider sat in the mid-80s, and his cutter was reaching the high-80s.
Nottingham’s summer in the Cape Cod League, along with his 2026 college baseball season, showed that he can be impactful within the Georgia bullpen going forward. He had good strikeout numbers with the Bulldogs and Firebirds in 2026. The ceiling for him as a college relief pitcher is sky-high.
