Six teams will compete across 72 regular-season games, with a championship title and a shot at the 2027 Americas Series on the line.
The race for Argentine baseball supremacy begins Oct. 31, when the Liga Argentina de Béisbol (LAB) launches its 2026-27 season with a nine-week schedule designed to showcase the country’s talent and strengthen the sport’s competitive landscape.
The six-team competition will feature 72 regular-season games before the postseason shifts to Salta, where the league champion will be crowned.
Beyond the national title, the stakes extend to the international stage. The winner will earn an automatic placement in the 2027 Americas Series in Greater Caracas, Venezuela.
The 2026-27 campaign will feature six organizations divided into two zones.
The North Zone will include Popeye Béisbol Club, Cachorros de Salta and La Docta de Córdoba. The Capital Zone will feature Club DAOM, Vélez Sarsfield and Buenos Aires Patriots.
The regular season will run through November and December, with interzonal matchups giving teams opportunities to measure themselves against opponents from across the competition.
Established Argentine players could play important roles in shaping the championship race.
Jacinto Cipriota, an experienced infielder for defending champion Club DAOM, brings dependable defense and extensive knowledge of the game. A longtime member of Argentina’s national team, Cipriota provides experience and stability for a DAOM squad looking to defend its title.
Agustín Tissera will represent La Docta, Córdoba’s unified team, bringing international tournament experience and a disciplined approach at the plate. His ability to produce extra-base hits and contribute on the basepaths makes him a player to watch throughout the season.
Club DAOM will also look to Julián Pedrouzo to help drive its offense. The outfielder is known for his run-producing ability and could be an important contributor as the reigning champions pursue another title.
On the mound, right-hander Federico Robles, representing the Salta hub, adds another name to the watchlist. Recognized for his high-velocity fastball and experience pitching for Argentina in international qualifiers, Robles could be a key figure in Salta’s bid to contend.
Following the regular season, four teams will qualify for the postseason. The winners of each zone will secure automatic spots, joined by the two remaining teams with the best overall records.
The postseason will introduce an additional roster-building opportunity. Across two rounds, the four qualifiers will be able to select two players from eliminated teams to strengthen their lineups for the championship push.
The semifinal stage will feature a round-robin format in Salta, with each qualifying team scheduled to play six games. The top two teams will advance to a best-of-three final, scheduled for Jan. 16-17, 2027, at Popeye’s stadium.
The LAB season will carry significance beyond Argentina, with the championship offering a direct path to the 2027 Americas Series, scheduled for February in Greater Caracas.
The international tournament will give Argentina’s top club an opportunity to compete against teams from across the Americas, adding another incentive to an already consequential season.
The 2026-27 LAB campaign offers a significant test for Argentina’s leading clubs. Experienced players such as Cipriota, Tissera, Pedrouzo and Robles could help shape the race as teams pursue postseason qualification.
The season begins Oct. 31, but the ultimate prize will be decided in January in Salta. For the club that emerges as champion, the reward will extend beyond domestic honors to an opportunity to represent Argentine baseball on the international stage in February.
