The N.C. State Wolfpack have revealed their 2026 fall exhibition schedule. According to On3’s Noah Fleischman, the Wolfpack have four opponents this upcoming fall.
N.C. State to face off against Appalachian State and North Carolina
On September 25, N.C. State will face off against the Appalachian State Mountaineers. That game will be at N.C. State’s home ballpark in Raleigh, Dail Park.
On October 16, N.C. State will have a neutral-site battle against their rival, the North Carolina Tar Heels. That game will be at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. That stadium is home to the Durham Bulls, the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Wolfpack and Tar Heels played in the final weekend series of the 2026 college baseball season at Dail Park in Raleigh. North Carolina won two out of those three games. The Tar Heels went on to make it to the College World Series for the second time in three years and played the Oklahoma Sooners in the national championship.
Two other fall ball opponents TBD
Fleischman also revealed that N.C. State will play two other teams during the fall exhibition slate in 2026. The Wolfpack will face off against the Duke Blue Devils and the Liberty Flames. The dates, times, and locations for those games are to be determined.
N.C. State played Duke in a weekend series in Raleigh and in the 2026 ACC Tournament. The Wolfpack won two out of three games against the Blue Devils. At Truist Field in Charlotte, N.C. State played Duke in the first game of the ACC Tournament. The Blue Devils got revenge for the series loss they took earlier in the series, and won by a score of 21-12.
N.C. State also played Liberty this past season in a midweek game on March 31. The Flames defeated the Wolfpack 7-5 in Raleigh.
Season results for the Wolfpack in 2026, Elliott Avent’s retirement
In 2026, the N.C. State Wolfpack finished with a 32-24 record and a 14-16 record in conference play.
Despite Duke knocking the Wolfpack out of the ACC Tournament in the first round, N.C. State made the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight season. They lost two straight games in the 2026 NCAA Tournament to the UCF Knights and the Auburn Tigers in the Auburn regional.
The biggest storyline from N.C. State’s 2026 season was long-time head coach Elliott Avent retiring after 30 seasons. In those 30 seasons, he won over 1,100 games and led the Wolfpack to the College World Series three times.
Avent’s replacement and the new N.C. State head coach is Chris Hart. He has spent 22 seasons on the Wolfpack coaching staff and was the associate head coach for N.C. State for 11 seasons.
