Max Fried
Fried is 5-1 with a 1.81 ERA in seven career starts against Tampa Bay, including 3-0 with a 0.84 ERA in three starts last season.
He threw six innings against Boston in the clinching game of the Wild Card Series, allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts.
He has faced the Rays twice this season. On April 11 at Tropicana Field he allowed three runs over eight innings in a no-decision. On Sept. 22 in New York he took the loss over 6 2/3 innings as Tampa Bay clinched the AL East.
Nick Martinez
Martinez is 15-6 with a 3.10 ERA over 180 innings, a first-time All-Star at 36. Tampa Bay went 22-9 in his starts.
He was 7-3 with a 2.38 ERA in 16 road starts and held the Yankees to three runs over 12 innings at Yankee Stadium this season.

Jonathan Aranda homered off Gerrit Cole for the only run of Game 1 and had two more hits in Game 2. Richie Palacios, a Brooklyn native, had the biggest hit of Game 2 and posted a .981 OPS with five home runs in September.
Judge is out
Aaron Judge was left off the ALDS roster with a strained right calf, though Boone called it a close decision. Judge has not run the bases but has been doing outfield running and taking live at-bats.
Clarke Schmidt is out for the rest of the postseason.
