Paul Skenes, the first pick in July’s Major League Baseball Draft, will pitch for the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Florida State League affiliate, the Bradenton Marauders, on Tuesday evening.

Skenes was selected by Pittsburgh with the top pick after he led the Louisiana State University Fightin’ Tigers to the 2023 NCAA Championship, and was signed to the largest signing bonus in history, $9.2 million shortly after the draft.

He made his first professional appearance last week, throwing a perfect inning in a Florida Complex League game against the Twins. His fastball hit 101 mph during the outing.

The Marauders, who play at LECOM Park, the Pittsburgh Pirates spring training home, face the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., with the game being streamed live on MiLB.com.
