Oddanier Mosqueda Has Dominant Start in Premier12

Venezuela now holds a 3-1 record, and part of the credit is due to left-handed reliever Oddanier Mosqueda. So far, Mosqueda has thrown in three of four games in Premier12 action.

His first appearance came against Mexico, tossing one inning and allowing one run via a home run to Chris Carter while collecting two strikeouts. Mosqueda’s second appearance was against the United States, recording the final two outs and a save by striking out the two batters he faced en route to Venezuela’s second win of Premier12.

The third appearance for Mosqueda came today against Puerto Rico, where he tossed two and two-thirds scoreless innings, not allowing any hits or walks and striking out six batters in relief. Enderson Franco would come in to record the final out of the game for Venezuela’s third victory.

Mosqueda, 25, was born in Caracas, Venezuela. From 2016 to 2023, he was a member of the Boston Red Sox organization, reaching as high as Triple-A. He signed with the New York Yankees for the 2024 season and spent all year in Triple-A. Mosqueda had a 7-1 record, posting a 4.39 ERA in 55 appearances and striking out 88 batters in 67.2 innings pitched.

It will be intriguing to see if Mosqueda and Venezuela will keep up their dominance in the bullpen with one more game on the slate. Venezuela will host the Netherlands tomorrow at 2 PM EST at Estadio Panamericano in Guadalajara, Mexico.
