Following a 13-8 win against Cal State Northridge Thursday night, the Oregon State Beavers are one of the hottest teams in college baseball. Head coach Mitch Canham’s team is riding an eight-game win streak.
The win streak began back on April 5 when Oregon State played UC Irvine. It was the middle game of that highly anticipated weekend series. The Beavers got a 4-2 win that jump started a big stretch of winning.
Oregon State went on to win the next game over UC Irvine 7-4 to win a weekend series against one of the best mid-majors in college baseball and one of the top teams in the Big West conference.
In the next four games, the Beavers scored a combined 43 runs. Those four games included a midweek win over the Portland Pilots and a weekend series sweep of Cal State Fullerton.
Prior to Thursday night’s win over Cal State Northridge, Oregon State got possibly their best win of the season over the University of California-Los Angeles Bruins. The Beavers held the first-place team in the Big Ten to just one run in a 7-1 win at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
There are very few teams trending up like Oregon State currently. They are well within the national seed conversation with a 28-7 overall record.
Up Next – The Beavers will continue their weekend series on the road against the Cal State Northridge Matadors on Friday, April 18. The game at Matador Field is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
This upcoming game is an opportunity for Oregon State to collect another series win. It would be the ninth win in a row and the ninth road win of the season for the team.
