Premier12 – 12 Teams in 12 Days: Netherlands

The Kingdom of Netherlands will be looking to finish better than they did in the previous two editions of the Premier12. They were eliminated in the Super Round by the United States in 2015 and finished 0-3 in 2019, failing to advance further.

This will be the first year Hensley Meulens will not manage the Netherlands team, as former Dutch infielder Evert-Jan’t Hoen will make his Premier12 managerial debut. Netherlands currently ranks seventh among the top 12.

Shairon Martis and Tom de Blok will look to lead the Netherlands rotation. Martis pitched with the Washington Nationals and Minnesota Twins organizations during his MLB career. De Blok recently helped his Curaçao Neptunus win the Holland Series Championship after delivering a terrific outing.

Two teammates from this season’s Liga Mexicana de Béisbol will lock down the middle infield for this year’s Premier12. Didi Gregorius and Jonathan Schoop will both be suiting up in just a few days for the Netherlands, and they will provide a spark offensively and defensively.

Their journey in the Premier12 this year will start on Opening Night, November 9, when they will be hosts to Panama. First pitch will be at 2 PM EST, playing at Estadio Panamericano in Mexico.
