Venezuela will be looking for better results in the Premier12 tournament this time after poor performances in 2015 and 2019. Entering the Premier12 this year, Venezuela ranks sixth out of the 12 teams participating.
They’ve always provided talent on their rosters, as Henderson Alvarez, Andres Blanco, and Felix Doubront represented Venezuela during the 2019 Premier12. The goal for Venezuela this year is to try to make it into the Super Round.
Their rotation will be led by Yohander Mendez, Nivaldo Rodriguez, and Williams Cuevas, who all dominated playing in leagues overseas. Their bullpen will also be intriguing as Enderson Franco looks to serve as the closer. Franco collected 20 saves in his second season playing in the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
After some drama with his winter league team in Venezuela, infielder Alexi Amarista will look to establish leadership in Venezuela’s lineup. Joining Amarista in Venezuela’s lineup will be MLB veterans Ehire Adrianza, Franklin Barreto, and Hernan Perez.
Venezuela will face Mexico on Opening Night, November 9. They will play at Estadio Panamericano in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the first pitch is set for 9 PM EST.
