Report: Trevor Bauer Facing New Sexual Assault Allegations

Former Major League Baseball Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer is facing new sexual assault allegations made by a woman in Arizona, Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today reported.

According to Schrotenboer, the woman claims that Bauer choked her until she was unconscious, raped her, and held a knife to her throat during their sexual encounter. The woman also claims that Bauer got her pregnant. Schrotenboer reported that Bauer has denied all claims the woman from Arizona has made and has countersued, accusing her of extortion, fraud, and fabricating her pregnancy.

Rachel Luba, who has been Bauer’s agent since 2019, disputed the charges against Bauer on her Twitter account, and believes the woman from Arizona is lying.

“This is not her first rodeo either,” Luba said via Twitter, “She has a history of arrests and has made multiple prior allegations of sexual assault against others over the years, including against at least one other professional athlete.”

This is the fourth woman to make a sexual assault claim against Trevor Bauer since 2021. The first allegation came from a woman in Ohio, who said that Bauer beat her during their sexual encounter in 2017 when he was with the Cleveland Guardians. Additionally, two other women stated in 2021 they experienced similar dangerous behaviors from Bauer during sex. Although Bauer never faced criminal charges, he was suspended 324 games by Major League Baseball for violating the leagues’ domestic violence and sexual assault policy.

The suspension was cut down to 194 games by an arbitrator, but Bauer had already served that time, resulting in his reinstatement to Major League Baseball. Bauer had signed a three-year deal worth $102 million with the Los Angeles Dodgers in February of 2021, and was prepared to start pitching again with his team following his reinstatement. He was subsequently designated for assignment by Los Angeles, and released six days later. Bauer signed a one-year deal worth $4 million with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan two months later.

Bauer has had a rocky start to his career with Yokohama, and was sent down to their minor league team in May for his poor performance on the mound. In his most recent start on Wednesday against the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, Bauer tossed his first complete game in Japan, striking out 12 and allowing just one earned run on a solo home run to Chusei Mannami. The Yokohama DeNA BayStars won the game by a score of 2-1.
