A native of Noord, Aruba, Croes played four seasons of NCAA Division II baseball with Quincy University in Quincy, Ill., before signing with the Goldeyes for the 2023 season. In his first professional season, Croes batted .351/.412/.423 with three homers and 67 RBIs in 94 games, good for fourth in the league in batting average. Last season, Croes batted .342/.397/.452 with five homers and 51 RBIs as the Goldeyes reached the championship series, where they were swept by the Kane County Cougars.
Croes was selected to play for the American Association’s Kane County Cougars at the 2025 Baseball Champions League Americas in Mexico City, where the Cougars were eliminated in the semifinals. In three games in Mexico City, Croes batted an astonishing .706, going 12-for-17 with two doubles, three homers, and seven RBIs in three games.
The Giants organization has yet to assign Croes to one of its minor league affiliates. The independent American Association’s level of play is generally viewed by scouts and executives to be somewhere between that of Double-A and Triple-A in affiliated baseball. San Francisco’s Double-A affiliate is the Richmond (Va.) Flying Squirrels, and their Triple-A affiliate is the Sacramento (Calif.) River Cats, who share Sutter Health Park with the Athletics of Major League Baseball.
