Nicaragua has appointed Sandor Guido to be its manager for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The Selección de Nicaragua announced Guido’s hiring on their Instagram page.
Guido also served as Nicaragua’s manager at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador and the World Baseball Classic. Legendary manager Dusty Baker was Nicaragua’s skipper in the most recent edition of the WBC.
In San Salvador, Nicaragua finished the tournament in sixth place with a 2-4 record and a -14 run differential. Their victories came against Puerto Rico and Curacao. That year, Mexico won the gold medal, Cuba won the silver medal, and Venezuela won the bronze medal.
Guido, 47, is the current manager of the Leones de Leon in the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Nacional. He was a first baseman during his playing days and competed for Nicaragua in the 2016 WBC Qualifiers, 2003 Pan American Games, and 2001 and 2003 editions of the Baseball World Cup.
Nicaragua’s roster could feature a solid mix of players from LBPN and the 2026 WBC.
The tournament will be held from July 31 through August 7 at Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
