The Serie de las Americas tournament began with two games kicking off the three-day long tournament. Six countries have sent one team to compete for the trophy: Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Curaçao, Nicaragua, and Panama.
Panama 19 – Argentina 1
The Tournament kicked off with a bang as Panama mercy ruled Argentina scoring 19 runs in the opening game, with 10 of them coming in the 8th. Eight different players recorded at least one RBI with all but one having at least two. Antonio Arauz delivered the biggest blow blasting a 3-run homer in the top of the 8th inning. Arauz joined Robert Mullen and Juan Alonso as the other players to record three RBIs in the lopsided game.
On the other side, Argentina struggled to get anything going as they only had five hits, with two coming from Sebastian Fountain.
Nicaragua 5 – Cuba 1
In the final game of day one, Nicaragua was able to take care of Cuba behind some great pitching. Cole Cook went five strong innings only allowing one run. After his strong outing the bullpen only allowed one hit in the last four innings. On the offensive side, Brandon Leyton provided the most as recorded a double and a homerun.
