Shohei Ohtani Makes MLB All-Star Game History

Shohei Ohtani, with his home run in the 2024 All-Star game, becomes the first player ever to win the All-Star game as a pitcher and hit a home run. Yet another milestone that Ohtani has broken in his MLB career.

Ohtani kicked off the scoring in this year’s mid-summer classic with a three-run bomb to right-center off of Boston Red Sox Tanner Houck. Ohtani took the ball 400 feet exactly and gave the National League a 3-0 lead. This was his second career ASG hit after hitting a single in the game in 2022.

He recorded the win on the mound for the American League in 2021’s All-Star game when he was with the Angels, pitching one inning of scoreless baseball. His two-way capabilities are so incredibly high that this milestone barely even gives the accomplishment justice. Fans cannot wait until Ohtani recovers from his UCL injury and returns to the mound while still putting up MVP numbers with his offense at the plate.

Ohtani would be pinch hit for by Marcel Ozuna after his second at-bat, but not before he made a shining impact. Ohtani’s home run was electric in the game, made even more flashy by the fact that the Japanese superstar was sporting his signature shoe.

Ohtani recently released his custom shoe in a partnership with New Balance and was rocking them during the game.

Shohei Ohtani gave fans in Texas their money’s worth with a power display that shows why he is the highest-paid player in all of baseball as the most talented two-way player in the game’s history.

The home run proved to be the only NL runs of the game as the AL won 5-3.
