Sixteen-year-old Diablos Rojos del México right-handed pitcher prospect Roberto Salas made his professional debut on Thursday night at Estadio Harp Helu in Mexico City at home against the Conspiradores de Querétaro.

The (19-5) Diablos Rojos del México beat the (10-14) Conspiradores de Querétaro 7-6 on Thursday night.

Diablos Rojos del México first baseman Jose Marmolejos hit a walk-off solo home run over the right field wall in the bottom of the ninth off Conspiradores de Querétaro relief pitcher Ofreidy Gomez.

Salas started for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico and only recorded one out during his appearance, striking out Conspiradores de Querétaro right fielder and former Major League Baseball player Leonys Martin.

Salas’ last batter of the game was Conspiradores de Queretaro designated hitter Yurisbel Gracial who roped a triple to right field, scoring Hanson and Ruiz, to make the score 2-0.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico manager Lorenzo Bundy called the bullpen after Gracial’s at-bat to pull Salas from the game in the top of the first inning and called upon left-handed pitcher Steven Moyers.

Salas threw 20 pitches with 11 strikes during his professional debut on Thursday.

According to International Baseball researcher Jeff Duda, Salas peaked at 91 mph on Thursday.

The Diablos del Rojos Mexico pitching staff allowed seven hits, six earned runs, four walks, six strikeouts, and two home runs on Thursday against the Conspiradores de Querétaro.

Salas played at the Academia Alfredo Harp Helu complex in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, and Liga Invernal Mexicana with the Diabolos del Rojos Mexico organization from October through November.

Salas is also under contract with the Sultanes de Monterrey in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico winter league organization.

Salas also has a brother, Gerardo Salas, a pitching prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.

The Diablos del Rojos will play the (16-8) Leones de Yucatan on the road at Parque Kukulcan Alamo in Merida, Mexico, at 9:35 p.m. EST on Friday. The Conspiradores de Querétaro will play at home on Friday against the (6-17) Piratas de Campeche at 9:00 p.m. EST at Estadio Finsus in Huimilpan, Querétaro.
