The Red Storm is rising.
St. John’s defeated Florida State 5-4 on Monday afternoon to sweep their way through the Tallahassee Regional, earning a trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, next weekend for their first Super Regional appearance since 2012 where they’ll face the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Florida State got on the board in the top of the third on a solo homer by Cal Fisher, and Brody DeLammieleure gave the Seminoles a two-run lead with an RBI single in the top of the fifth that scored John Stuetzer.
In the bottom of the inning, the Red Storm loaded the bases, with Rob Mansour drawing a walk, Jon LeGrande hitting a single to right, and Jayder Raifstanger drawing a walk. After Shaun McMillan struck out swinging, Adam Agresti sent the first pitch he saw from FSU’s John Abraham over the center field wall for a grand slam.

In the top of the ninth, Cal Fisher homered again, hitting a two-run shot that cut the lead to 5-4, but St. John’s reliever Victor Frederick first snared a comebacker from John Stuetzer, and after issuing a two-out walk to Brayden Dowd, Frederick struck out DeLammieleure looking to end the game.
