After winning 11 straight games, the Naranjeros de Hermosillo of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico have risen to the top of the standings.

And with their meteoric rise in the standings, the Naranjeros have also risen to the top of World Baseball Network’s weekly winter ball poll, garnering all four first-place votes and 40 total points in the balloting, rising to the top spot after being ranked fourth last week. They’ve supplanted the Tomateros de Culiacan, who won the first half of the LAMP season but have since regressed, falling to second in the standings and third in this week’s poll with 30 points.

Ranked second by the voters again this week are the Estrellas Orientales of LIDOM, who are in first place in the Dominican Republic’s league with a 24-16 mark. Trailing the Estrellas in the standings are the Tigres del Licey, who have reached the final game of the Caribbean Series each of the last two years. The Tigres, known in the D.R. as “El Glorioso,” are 20-16 this season and 6-4 in their last 10 games.

After going 9-1 in their last 10 games, the Cardenales de Lara of the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional are ranked fourth this week. The Cardenales, led by former Major League Baseball catcher Henry Blanco, sit atop the LVBP standings with a 27-18 mark. Behind them, the second-place Navegantes de Magallanes are 25-21 in the LVBP and ranked seventh in this week’s poll.

The Liga Beisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente has two teams ranked in this week’s poll. The Senadores de San Juan, leading the LBPRC at 13-7, are ranked sixth, while the second-place Indios de Mayaguez, at 12-8, are tied for eighth. Also tied for eighth in WBN’s weekly rankings are the Caneros de Los Mochis of LAMP, who are in fourth place in the league at 28-22.

The Leones del Escogido of LIDOM, who are in third place at 21-19, are 10th in this week’s poll, falling from third place last week.

The LAMP’s Charros de Jalisco, who are 27-23 and 7-3 in their last 10 games, received six votes.

Dropping out of the poll this week are the Aguilas del Zulia and Bravos de Margarita of the LVBP.
