The Cleveland Guardians acquired right-handed pitcher Matt Festa from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash considerations.
Festa, who pitched for Team Italy at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, has been assigned to Triple-A Columbus and does not occupy a spot on the Guardians’ 40-man roster.
Festa, 32, brings five seasons of Major League experience, having pitched in 108 games with the Mariners, Rangers, and Mets.
The Staten Island native rejoined Texas in February after spending part of the 2024 season with both the Mets and Rangers, and briefly in the Cubs organization during the offseason.
He opened the 2025 season in strong form, posting 14.2 scoreless innings over nine relief appearances with Triple-A Round Rock.
