Many players are born with tremendous talent, but it is all about how they grow to reach the goal of Major League Baseball. There are many baseball academies all around the world that are best for helping players reach their potential. Let’s look at the top baseball academies.
IMG
IMG Academy is known as the best sports and baseball academy in the world. It is a boarding school that has a heavy focus on sports. Athletes are treated to pro-style training such as meal plans, training schedules, and daily workouts. Players such as Pedro Alvarez, José Ramirez, and Joey Votto have attended IMG Academy throughout their careers. As the years go on, more and more draft-eligible players, such as Elijah Green, the fifth pick in the 2022 MLB draft, have attended IMG Academy to further advance their baseball skills.
The Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School
Founded in 2002, this academy was created to combat the decline in Puerto Rican players making it to the majors. They were losing the battle to the Dominican Republic, and the founder, Ed Correa wanted to change that. Like IMG, the academy is not only a place where players will train like professionals and eat like them but a place where education is also a priority. During their baseball training, players are taught all of the basics and have a huge focus on the fundamentals of baseball as well. Notable players such as Carlos Correa and Christian Vasquez have attended the academy.
MB Baseball Academy
The MB Baseball Academy in Santiago, Dominican Republic, founded in 2008, is one of, if not the best, baseball academy in all the DR. Unlike the other academies listed, this one offers camps for all ages and their boarding school. Their four camps are Summer Camp, Prospect Camp, Team Camp, and Student Camp.
Their Prospect Camp is their best-known camp, designed for prospects looking to be scouted and signed internationally. Everyone in the camp has a 13-hour schedule outlined on their website, including everything a player needs to grow.
The focus of all the camps is developing the skills of their players to help them reach the Majors. They have dorms for all of their players and full kitchens with meal plans for each kid designed for them specifically. The MB academy has had a ton of success with their players reaching the majors, but none as big as Julio Rodriguez.
MB also features many guest speakers and demonstrations from players such as Robinson Cano and Juan Soto. The academy continues to be the best the Dominican Republic has to offer.
