After a hot first half of the season in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol, Trevor Bauer isn’t going anywhere.

The 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner began the season on a five-game contract, agreed to stay for another four starts, and has now decided to remain with the team for the rest of the season.

For both Bauer and the Diablos Rojos, it has been a match made in heaven.

So far, Bauer leads the league in ERA with a 1.50 mark and in strikeouts with 62. He’s thrown 42 innings over seven starts while compiling a 5-0 record since coming to Mexico City.

For the Diablos and manager Lorenzo Bundy, Bauer has been a huge part of the club’s early season success. The Diablos Rojos lead the LMB’s Zona Sur and the league overall with a 29-7 record. They are seven games ahead of second-place Yucatan.

This week, the Diablos Rojos host the Saraperos de Saltillo May 28-30 and the Dorados de Chihuahua May 31 to June 1.

Bauer last pitched on May 21, earning the win in a 6-0 shutout on the road against the Bravos de Leon, throwing seven innings and allowing seven hits, one walk, and striking out seven.
