History was made on Sunday by University of North Carolina-Wilmington starting pitcher Cam Bagwell. The freshman right-hander threw a perfect game in a 12-0 mercy rule win over the Campbell Camels.

In the full seven innings of the game, Bagwell threw 80 pitches to give the Seahawks their 12th win of the season. He struck out only three hitters in the game. Bagwell was able to force 12 flyouts and six groundouts to record the 21 total outs needed to make history.

The perfect game is the first in UNC Wilmington baseball’s history since 1968 and it is the first no-hitter for the program since 1995.

The win that was credited to Bagwell against Campbell is his fourth this season. He also has wins over Charlotte, Liberty, and the University of North Carolina-Asheville.

He has a 2.02 ERA this season in 35 and 2/3 innings of work. He also has allowed just four extra-base hits out of the 142 batters he has faced so far in the 2025 college baseball season.

Up Next – UNC Wilmington’s next game will be at home at Brooks Field, a midweek matchup against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers on Tuesday, March 25. The first pitch will be at 6 p.m. EST. The Seahawks will look to get back over .500 this season. A win against the Buccaneers will be their 10th at home at Brooks Field.
