Wake Forest Climbs to the Top of This Week’s D1Baseball.com NCAA Rankings

D1baseball.com released the new rankings for the Top 25 of the 2023 Division I Baseball Season for the week of May 7, 2023. 

For the first time this season, the 2023 NCAA Division I Baseball season will have a new number one program, as Wake Forest University at 39-7 leaped over 37-10 Louisiana State University. 

Louisiana State University last Tuesday beat Southeastern Louisiana University 10-0 and lost two games of their three-game series against Auburn, winning on Friday 3-0 before losing two straight games 8-6 on Saturday and 12-2 on Sunday. 

Wake Forest University won two games out of their three-game series against Boston College with a 6-0 win on Friday, losing Saturday 11-9 in 12 innings, and a 4-2 win on Sunday. 

The University of Arkansas (36-12) climbed up the rankings three spots from sixth in the nation to No. 3, losing to Lipscomb University 8-6 last Tuesday and sweeping Mississippi State University in their three-game series. 

Stanford University (31-13) moved up three spots from No. 7 in the country to No. 4, sweeping Arizona State University over the weekend in their three-game series. 

The University of South Carolina at 36-11 dropped from No. 3 in the nation to No. 6 beating Winthrop on Wednesday 6-1 and getting swept by the University of Kentucky over the weekend in their three game series. 

The University of Florida (37-12) fell three spots from fourth to seventh in the country after beating Florida State University last Tuesday 7-5, and losing two out of three games to Texas A&M University on the weekend. 

Clemson University (31-17) entered the poll after sweeping the University of Louisville in their three-game series over the weekend. 

The University of Maryland (33-16) moved up the rankings four spots from No. 23 to No. 19 in the country winning two out of three games against the University of Nebraska. 

The University of Tennessee (32-16) fell five spots in the rankings from No. 18 to No. 23, beating Wofford University 13-3 last Tuesday and losing two games in their three-game series against the University of Georgia over the weekend. 

The University of Oregon dropped seven spots from No. 17 to No. 24, losing to Oregon State University last Tuesday 11-6 and losing two out of three games to the University of Southern California. 

Southern Mississippi University (32-15) re-entered the Top 25 after beating Tulane University last Tuesday by the score of 10-5 and sweeping he  of South Alabama in their three-game series over the weekend.
