What European Players are Poised to Make the MLB?

Here is a look at some of the best prospects from Europe and how they are set for a career path that could lead them to Major League Baseball.

Michal Kovala – Czech Republic

According to Perfect Game, Michal Kovala was the best 2023 prospect from Europe. He signed with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and played his first college baseball season in 2024.

Kovala only pitched 18 innings. He ended up with a 4.00 ERA over that stretch and had 18 strikeouts. Next season in college, he made the move to transfer to Chipola College in Marianna, Fla.

Perfect Game scouts were impressed with the breaking ball that Kovala possessed. Some time in JUCO may do him some good. As a sophomore heading into the 2025 college baseball season, he has time to put on a good show and transfer to a bigger school.

That way, he can really put the MLB on notice.

Emil Morales – Spain

Emil Morales is an 18-year-old from Spain playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ rookie affiliate team. He was highly impressive during his 2024 season.

Morales had a .342 batting average, an on-base percentage of .478, and an OPS of 1.100+. He also finished with 14 home runs and 46 RBI.

The Dodgers have a big power bat from Spain deep within their farm system. Morales is currently training in the Dominican Republic; at 18-years-old, he will only improve over time.
