The LIDOM championship series is headed to a deciding game seven after the Estrellas Orientales evened the series at three games apiece with a 4-3 win against the Tigres del Licey on Friday night.
Robinson Cano got the Estrellas on the board with an RBI double in the top of the fourth.
In the fifth, Gustavo Nunez evened the game with an RBI single for the Tigres that sent Emilio Bonifacio home.
When Miguel Sano was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, the Estrellas took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth. The next batter, former Major Leaguer Yangervis Solarte, drew a walk that sent Cano across the plate. Webster Rivas followed with a sac fly that scored Lewin Diaz and gave the Estrellas a 4-1 lead.
The Tigres cut the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run homer by Yadiel Hernandez.
Starter Esmil Rogers went five innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks, striking out five for the Estrellas.
Game seven will be played Saturday night in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, at 6:30 p.m. EST, and can be streamed on MLB.tv with a paid subscription.
Federales de Chiriqui Win ProBeis Championship – The Federales de Chiriqui won Panama’s ProBeis championship, taking the third game of the series 8-1 to sweep the Aguilas Metropolitanas to earn their third trip to the Caribbean Series.
Jean Arnaez was named the ProBeis championship series MVP. Arnaez hit a three-run homer in game three to put the Federales up 8-1.
The Federales previously appeared in the Caribbean Series in 2021, when they put together a roster with players from all four teams in ProBeis, as that league did not play due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, and in 2023.
The Federales will open the Caribbean Series on Feb. 2 at 10:30 a.m. EST against Curacao.
