Panamanian pitcher Paolo Espino of the Toros del Este has won the pitching triple crown in the LIDOM, leading the six-team circuit in strikeouts and ERA and tying for the league lead in wins.
Espino is the fifth pitcher to win the triple crown in LIDOM, joining César Valdez (Tigres del Licey, 2021-22), James R. Richard (Estrellas Orientales, 1974-75), Pete Burnside (Leones del Escogido, 1956-67) and Diómedes Olivo (Tigres del Licey, 1961).
In his sixth season with the Toros del Este, Espino had four wins, 49 strikeouts, and an ERA of 2.40. He also led the league in WHIP (0.90), strikeouts per 9 innings (9.06), and has a career record of 13-13 with a 2.50 ERA, 181 strikeouts and 37 walks over 194.2 innings in his LIDOM career.

All four major winter leagues – LIDOM, the Liga Beisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente, the Liga Venezolana Beisbol Profesional, and the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico – have no games scheduled on Dec. 24.
The LAMP will resume with a full slate of games on Christmas Day, with the Tomateros de Culiacan facing the Yaquis de Obregon at 9:10 p.m. EST, the Aguilas de Mexicali play the Sultanes de Monterrey at 5 p.m. EST, the Caneros de Los Mochis will play the Naranjeros de Hermosillo at 10 p.m. EST, the Charros de Jalisco face the Venados de Mazatlan at 10 p.m EST, and the Mayos de Navajoa face the Algodoneros de Guasave at 11:30 p.m. EST.
The other three leagues will resume play of Dec. 26.
