The 2023 Asia Winter Baseball League, operated by the Chinese Professional Baseball League, will start on November 25 and end until December 17 in Taichung, Taiwan at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium.
The CPBL also announced on their website that tickets are on sale for the 2023 AWBL regular season starting on November 13 on the Taiwanese ticketing website ticket.ibon.com.tw.
There will be a total of 56 games between the playoffs and regular season for all of the teams in the league, with each All-Star and national team playing 17 games total.
The six participating teams will be a Chinese Professional Baseball League All-Star Team, the Nippon Professional Baseball Red Team, the NPB White Team, the TSG Hawks, the Chinese Taipei U-23 national team, and the Japan Amateur Baseball Association All-Star team.
The TSG Hawks will start their first season in the Chinese Professional Baseball League in 2024 after playing the 2023 season as a minor league team.
The TSG hawks are owned by the Taiwan Steel Group and will play their home games next season at Chengcing Lake Baseball Stadium in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.
The league last operated in 2019 at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium, with the Japanese Amateur Baseball Association beating the NPB Red Team 4-2 in the championship game.
The Asia Winter Baseball League began in 2012 and was always hosted in Taichung except for the 2018 season in Douliu, Taiwan.
On Dec. 14, 2022, the CPBL announced the Asia Winter Baseball League would return along with the Asian Professional Baseball Championship event from November 16-November 19 at the Tokyo Dome during that time frame.
During previous seasons of the Asia Winter Baseball League, a European All-Stars played in 2015 and 2016, and the World Baseball Softball Confederation All-Star Team played during the 2017 season.
The Asia Winter Baseball League will give teams an opportunity to evaluate players for their upcoming seasons in the minor leagues and active rosters of their main clubs in the Korean Baseball Organization, Nippon Professional Baseball, and the Chinese Professional Baseball League for the 2024 season prior to the start of their training camps in mid-January.
The AWBL will be broadcasted and streamed live on the CPBL.TV website and the CPBL Twitch social media account.
The 2023 AWBL season will open up with three games at Taichung Intercontinental Stadium on November 25 with the U-23 Chinese Taipei playing the NPB Red Team for the first game, the second game will be TSG going up against the JABA All-Star team, and the third game will be the NPB White Team playing the CPBL All-Star team.
The times of the three games for the first day of the 2023 AWBL regular season on November 25 have not been announced as of now.
