The Arkansas Razorbacks recently held scrimmages at Baum-Walker Stadium ahead of fall practices. Brent Iredale, a big-name power bat, put on a great display of play during the four scrimmages, hitting four home runs. The infielder from Sydney, Australia, is really showing just how good of a player he can be in this Arkansas lineup that is looking to improve its offense.
Iredale is a former JUCO player who transferred to Arkansas in their loaded transfer portal class, which ranked second overall during this offseason. Last season at New Mexico Junior College, he played 58 games and put up some great stats. He finished with a .441 batting average, 25 home runs, and 78 RBI. He also showed some speed on the basepaths with 24 stolen bases.
He heads to Fayetteville as a back-to-back Western Junior College Athletic Conference MVP and was a NJCAA All-American a season ago. He leaves NMJC as the school’s all-time leader in career home runs with 42 in his two seasons.
Arkansas finished in the bottom half of the SEC in most offensive categories. This includes finishing 11th in batting average, 9th in home runs, 12th in doubles, 10th in stolen bases, and 11th in RBI. This means that finding offense is the real key for the Razorbacks in 2025.
With Iredale joining the lineup, he helps to round out the Razorbacks’ lineup very well. He can bring more power into the team’s hitting along with some other big-time returning hitters like Wehiwa Aloy and Kendall Diggs, who both combined for 21 home runs in 2024.
The scrimmages from this week are a sign of what Iredale can do for Arkansas, and it will be something to watch as they begin Fall ball soon.
