A total of six teams from General Belgrano, Merlo and La Plata played a series of games during the five-hour event.

Almost 50 kids aged 10 to 16 participated in a Baseball5 activation at Ciudad de los Niños (The Kids’ City), an iconic public park located just outside La Plata, the capital of Buenos Aires Province.

A total of six teams from General Belgrano, Merlo and La Plata played a series of games during the five-hour event.

The Baseball5 activation was supported by the Argentina Softball Confederation and the Metropolitan Baseball League, and coordinated by Víctor Aramayo, one of the sport’s biggest promoters in the South American nation.

Sports authorities from Buenos Aires Province attended the event at Ciudad de los Niños as part of their efforts to promote Baseball5 throughout the region.

Baseball5 was introduced to Argentina in 2018 during a demonstration event held at the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018. Aramayo took part in the YOG as a professor and quickly became one of the early adopters of the new urban discipline in the country.

Last year, the Argentina Baseball Federation launched a Baseball5 National Development Program, funded by WBSC and Olympic Solidarity. The sport was also included in the Buenos Aires School Games (Juegos Escolares Bonaerenses – JEBO). In the first activity of the year, more than 300 kids and 32 teams participated in a Baseball5 event.
