The Boston Red Sox will play two exhibition games against the Sultanes de Monterrey of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol on March 24 and 25 at Estadio de Beisbol in Monterrey, Mexico, the organization announced on December 9.
The start times have yet to be announced.
The Sultanes de Monterrey have won 10 Serie del Rey championships in LMB since their first year in 1939.
This will be the second consecutive year the Red Sox will play an exhibition series outside the United States.
Last season, the Red Sox played during spring training at Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Red Sox have played two international regular season series, first against the Oakland Athletics at the Tokyo Dome to open up the 2008 regular season and against the New York Yankees at London Stadium in 2019.
This will be the second consecutive year that a Major League Baseball franchise is playing an LMB organization since the New York Yankees played the eventual 2024 LMB champion, Diablos Rojos del México before the start of the 2024 regular season at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú in Mexico City.
MLB will play another series in Mexico for the fourth straight season. The San Diego Padres played against the San Francisco Giants during the 2023 season, and the Colorado Rockies faced the Houston Astros last year.
The first international MLB game during the regular season was at Estadio de Beisbol Monterrey. The Padres played against the New York Mets in a three-game series during the 1996 season.
Estadio de Beisbol Monterrey last hosted an MLB event in the 2019 regular season when the St. Louis Cardinals played the Cincinnati Reds and the Astros played the Los Angeles Angels.
The venue also hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Padres for a three-game series in 2018.
The Red Sox will open spring training against the UCONN Huskies on February 21 at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Fla., before opening the 2025 regular season on the road against the Texas Rangers at 4:05 p.m. EDT on March 27.
