The Wake Forest Demon Deacons finished the 2024 season 38-22 overall. They made the 2024 NCAA Tournament but lost two straight games to get knocked out during the Greenville regional.
Heading into 2025, the Demon Deacons look to get back to playing in the College World Series, which is where they were two years ago in 2023. This is the goal and the standard head coach Tom Walter set as the program looks to chase its first national championship since 1955.
The 2025 schedule for Wake Forest has been revealed. Here is a breakdown of who they will play next season.
Kicking off the season, the Demon Deacons will host Long Island and Marist in back-and-forth games at their home field, David F. Couch Ballpark. Beginning Friday, Feb. 14, they will play Long Island and then Marist the following Saturday. On Sunday, Feb. 16, they will have a doubleheader beginning at 9:30 a.m. as they will play Long Island and then Marist again at 1 p.m. that same day.
Long Island was an NCAA Tournament team a season ago. This provides a unique challenge from a mid-major team for Walter’s Demon Deacon squad.
Next Tuesday, Feb. 18, Wake Forest will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to play UNC Greensboro at First National Bank Field, the usual home of the minor league Greensboro Grasshoppers.
Then, the Demon Deacons will get their first true home weekend series against the St. John’s Red Storm from Feb. 21-23. That following Tuesday, Feb. 25, they will stay home in Winston-Salem and play Elon.
Much like the beginning of the season against Long Island and Marist, Wake Forest will host two teams from Feb. 28 to Mar. 2. They will play Rider on Feb. 28 and then Maryland on Mar. 1 at David F. Couch ballpark. Then, on Sunday at 9:30 a.m., they will have a double-header with the two teams, starting with Rider and ending with Maryland at 1 p.m.
On Mar. 4, they will travel to Boone, N.C., to play Appalachian State in a mid-week matchup. This will mark the end of non-conference play in what seems to be a pretty manageable slate.
ACC play will be key for Wake Forest as this is where they lost some footing of their season a year ago. They finished 15-15, and with some tough matchups on the road, it will be big for them to take care of business in some of these series.
Conference play in 2025 begins for Wake Forest at home against Notre Dame from Mar. 7-9. They will then hit the road for a tough midweek match in Conway, S.C., against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Mar. 11.
The second ACC weekend series will be back in David F. Couch Ballpark against the Miami Hurricanes from Mar. 14-16. The Demon Deacons will follow that up with a midweek on the road again in Lynchburg, Va., against the Liberty Flames.
Wake Forest then hits the road for one of its biggest ACC series of the season against the Clemson Tigers at Doug Kingsmore Stadium from Mar. 21-23. It will then stay on the road and play Elon for the second time on Mar. 25 at its home field, Rhodes Stadium.
The end of March has Wake Forest back at David F. Couch Ballpark playing Virginia Tech from Mar. 28-30. The following mid-week game is on the road against High Point on Apr. 1.
Another tough road weekend series for the Demon Deacons will come Apr. 4-6, when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to play Florida State. Then, on Apr. 8, they will return to Winston-Salem to play UNC Greensboro for the second time this season. After that, they will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., to play North Carolina on the road from Apr. 10-12.
This back-to-back road series stretch against Florida State and North Carolina will be a key set of games for Wake Forest and can test what they are made of during conference play.
The next week will be spent at home for the Demon Deacons as they play Coastal Carolina for a mid-week game on Apr. 15. That will also be the second time those two teams play. Then, they end the week against Boston College from Apr. 17-19.
The following mid-week game will be against Liberty again as they play them for the second time this season. This time, it will be in Winston-Salem on Apr. 22. Then, there will be a tough cross-country road trip to California as the Demon Deacons take on Stanford, one of the newcomers to the ACC. This weekend series will be from Apr. 25-27.
Wake Forest takes on Appalachian State for the second time in a neutral site in Shelby, N.C., on Apr. 29.
The Demon Deacons will take a slight break from ACC opponents to begin May. They will host Gardner-Webb from May 3 to 4. On Sunday, May 4, they will play a doubleheader.
Wake Forest gets right back into ACC play the following weekend, playing Pittsburgh in David F. Couch Ballpark from May 9-11. Their final midweek is their second matchup against High Point on May 13. This time, the two teams will meet in Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest’s final weekend series of the year will be on the road in Kentucky as they take on Louisville from May 15-17.
