Chandler Simpson Explodes for Big Game Against Panama

The United States defeated Panama on Tuesday to get their second win of the Premier12. The hits came in bunches for the team as they were able to rack up 12. Four hits came from Chandler Simpson, the United States’ lead-off man.

The right fielder was not only able to get those four hits in five at-bats but also scored a run himself and had two RBI. The two RBI happened on a hit up the middle into centerfield, putting the game out of reach for Panama.

Simpson’s big night really helped his total tournament numbers. His batting average now sits at .500 for all of Premier 12. This makes him top ten in the tournament among players with 10+ at-bats. His on-base percentage is also .550+, and his OPS is 1.119. He is second and third on the United States in both categories, respectively.

Simpson is currently in the Tampa Bay Rays’ system, playing for the Double-A affiliate, the Montgomery Biscuits. He had a historic 2024 season with 104 stolen bases and an on-base percentage of .410.

He is a top-five prospect in the Rays talented farm system. He was drafted in a competitive balance round by the Rays in 2022 out of Georgia Tech.

Simpson and the United States will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 14. They will play Mexico in Estadio Panamericano in Guadalajara, with the first pitch scheduled for 9 p.m. E.T.

All Premier12 games can be streamed on DAZN with a subscription.
