Left-handed pitcher Clayton Andrews is signing with the Águilas de Mexicali of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico for the 2024-25 season.

Andrews made his Major League debut for the Milwaukee Brewers on July 1, 2023. He was drafted in the 17th round of the 2018 Amateur Draft. He spent five seasons in the minor leagues before he made his  MLB debut, and made four appearances for the team before being traded to the New York Yankees in February 2024. He made one appearance with the Yankees, but spent most of his time in the minor leagues.

Andrews elected free agency in June and signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants. The organization released him in August. Andrews has a 3.69 ERA in his minor league career.

“We need an experienced arm to further strengthen our relief corps. We firmly believe that Andrews will help us a lot in close games,” José Amador, the club’s manager told LMP.mx in Spanish.

The Águilas de Mexicali will open their season on October 11 against the Sultanes de Monterrey. 10 teams will play a 68-game season split into two halves. After each half points are awarded for standings. At the end of the season, the top eight teams in points will advance to the postseason.

The Águilas de Mexicali last won a championship after the 2016-17 season. The reigning champions are the Naranjeros de Hermosillo. The league’s champion goes on to play in the Caribbean Series.
