With several international baseball tournaments in a few weeks, Cuba announced they will participate in the 2024 Caribbean Cup. The Caribbean Cup will take place in the Bahamas. Most players selected on Cuba’s roster mainly have experience playing in the Cuban National Series. Here is who will be joining Cuba’s team:

Cuba will be led by Alexander Urquiola, who will serve as the team’s manager. Eddy Cagijal will serve as the team’s hitting coach, with Julio Cesar Alvarez and Donald Duarte serving as assistant coaches. Jose Ramon Riscart will handle duties as Cuba’s pitching coach.
One player to keep an eye on offensively for Cuba will be Denis Peña. Peña, 27, has been playing in Cuba since he was 18-years-old, debuting with the Lenadores de Las Tunas during the 2014-15 season. Still playing with Las Tunas to this day, Peña played in 34 games during the 2023-24 season, hitting three home runs and 20 RBIs while hitting for a .312 average.
Eliander Bravo will look to lead Cuba’s pitching staff. The 22-year-old southpaw made his Cuban National Series debut this past 2023-24 season with the Lenadores de Las Tunas. Bravo put together a 4-2 record in his first professional season, posting a 4.03 ERA in 13 starts, striking out 31 batters in 58 innings.
Cuba’s first game will be on October 23, when they’ll face San Martin’s National Team. On October 24, Cuba will face the Dominican Republic; the next day, they will face the U.S. Virgin Islands. They’ll face the Bahamas on October 26, with their final matchup coming on October 27, when they will play Curaçao.
Championship Day will be held on October 28. The first and second-place qualifiers will battle it out for the gold medal, while third and fourth-place will play for the bronze medal.
