After two seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers, utility player Dalton Bargo transferred out and will be playing for the North Carolina State Wolfpack in 2026.
Bargo talked to the media about his impressions of N.C. State so far during fall practices and exhibitions.
“I love it,” Bargo told the media. “The coaching staff and group of guys we have are awesome. We have all meshed really well, and I love Raleigh so far.”
Bargo spent the 2024 and 2025 college baseball seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville.
In those two seasons, he had a .275 batting average, 22 home runs, and 67 RBI.
He helped Tennessee bring home some hardware, especially during the 2024 season. With Bargo in 2024, the Volunteers won 60 games and claimed their first-ever national championship. Tennessee also won a share of the SEC regular season title and won the SEC Tournament.
In 2025, Bargo and the Volunteers made a super regional for the fifth straight season. Tennessee remains the only college baseball program ever to make five-straight super regionals.
In 2025, the N.C. State Wolfpack ranked toward the bottom of the Atlantic Coast Conference in home runs with 63 as a team.
They also ranked in the bottom half of the conference in runs scored.
In need of an offense push in 2026, Bargo could be a transfer portal addition that N.C. State needs next season.
With a national championship under his belt and plenty of NCAA Tournament experience, Bargo also knows what it takes to win in the postseason. This can also be a huge benefit for the Wolfpack nest season.
The N.C. State Wolfpack will begin the 2026 college baseball season playing in the Puerto Rico Challenge from February 13-15.
On February 13, they will play the Washington Huskies at 3:30 p.m. EST. Then, on February 14, they will play the Indiana State Sycamores at 10:30 a.m. EST.
Both of those games will be in the city of Ponce.
On February 15, in the city of Caguas, N.C. State will wrap up the Puerto Rico Challenge by playing the Seton Hall Pirates at 2 p.m. EST.
