Frederich Cepeda Becomes First Player in Cuba With 900 Extra Base Hits

Shortly after moving into fourth all-time in homers for players in Cuba’s Serie Nacional, Cuban baseball legend Frederich Cepeda, who was already the all-time extra base hits leader in Cuba, became the first ever player to have 900 extra base hits this weekend in Cuban baseball while playing for Ciego De Avila in the Cuban Elite League.

He passed Cuban legend Orestes Kindelán two years ago when he recorded his 854th extra base hit. They are the only two to ever record over 800 extra base hits in Cuba. Omar Linares is third with 785.

With Cepeda showing there is still something left in the tank, the soon-to-be 45-year-old and the best Cuban-based player of his generation is well on his way to setting a mark in extra base hits in Cuba that will be hard to ever be broken as he continues to add chapters to his legendary career.
