This weekend, the Iowa Hawkeyes swept the Michigan Wolverines on the road in Ann Arbor.
Head coach Rick Heller’s team has yet to lose a Big Ten series this season and are now 17-4 in conference play. After this weekend’s action, they are now at the top of the Big Ten standings.
One thing to note about Iowa this season is that they are excellent both at home and on the road. As a matter of fact, they have played more true road games than home games in 2025. This, in turn, has led to more wins on the road than at home with 13 this season.
The Hawkeyes have swept two Big Ten teams on the road. One was Michigan this past weekend, and the other was Minnesota back at the end of March.
The pitching has been a big point of emphasis for the Hawkeyes this season, and they rank ninth in the country in team ERA at 3.65. They have been the best pitching team in the Big Ten, and this puts them in the mix with the top pitching teams in the country — teams such as LSU and North Carolina.
With around a month left in the college baseball regular season, Iowa is in a great position to take home some Big Ten championship hardware when a lot of people did not expect it. The last conference regular season title for the Hawkeyes came 35 years ago in 1990.
This would also lead to an NCAA Tournament appearance which would be the second one in three years.
Up Next – Iowa has a midweek matchup on deck against Western Illinois on Tuesday, April 22. The game will be played at Duane Banks Field in Iowa City and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:02 p.m. EDT.
